Ash Vs Evil Dead Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Ash vs Evil Dead has yet to premiere in the United States, but Starz already has some great news for fans of the Deadite-oriented action series. Ash vs Evil Dead has already been renewed for Season 2 over at Starz. That’s a very, very early renewal, but one that is actually very characteristic of the subscription cable channel.

Although there are no ratings yet to support a Season 2 renewal, clearly there’s been a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming (presumably) fun and (definitely) gory series, and it doesn’t shock us that Starz would go ahead and pull the trigger on a second season, even if it is a little early (the network is noting disributor demand also helped the channel to make the call). We obviously don’t know anything about the plot for the second season, yet, but Starz’s big announcement notes that Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert will all be a part of Season 2, as will showrunner Craig DiGregorio. Lucy Lawless will also apparently survive the first season of the new Starz program, as she’s definitely been signed on for Season 2.

Anticipation for Ash vs Evil Dead has been huge over the last several months. The trailer for the series has been viewed more than 3 million times, leading Starz to tease the series even further with the release of the first four minutes of the upcoming half-hour program. Here’s the full trailer if you haven’t caught it yet

Starz is known for signing on for new seasons before a show has actually premiered. The network also did this with Magic City, Black Sails and others have received early renewals from Starz. So, it’s not really a stretch that the subscription cable channel would do the same for Ash vs Evil Dead, especially considering the buzz the show has been getting.

Ash vs Evil Dead isn’t the only show Starz has on or coming up in the schedule. The final season of Da Vinci’s Demons premiered last Saturday. In addition, Starz has the ballet drama Flesh and Bone coming up in November. But first, you can catch Bruce Campbell back in action when Ash vs Evil Dead premieres on Saturday, October 31 at 9 p.m. ET.Provided you aren't still handing candy out at that late hour, we highly suggest tuning in.

In addition, you can check out the rest of the upcoming fall premieres, here.
