Banshee Trailer Gives Us A Look At Cinemax's Upcoming New Drama
Set to arrive early next year is Banshee, the new drama that lured True Blood's Alan Ball away from the vampire series on HBO and over to its sister station, premium cable channel Cinemax. We saw a teaser for the series last summer, and now we have a full trailer to look out in anticipation of the show's January premiere.
It doesn't look like there are any vampires in the town of Banshee, but there sure is plenty of drama (and violence!). The trailer below introduces us to Lucas Hood (Antony Starr), an ex-convict who moves to the Pennsylvania town of Banshee and assumes the identity of the town sheriff, while still on the hunt from gangsters.
"…I have no knowledge, past or present, that would disqualify me from the assignment of this office, so help me God…"
I'm thinking being an ex-con may conflict with the oath we see Lucas making at the start of the trailer. We also see him meeting Ulrich Thomsen's Procter, who may be his local opposition in the series. It looks like Lucas' arrival in Banshee is causing some major problems. Trouble may have followed him or trouble was already there. Either way, drama awaits!
Banshee is created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, with Alan Ball among the executive producers on the series, along with Greg Yaitanes and Peter Macdissi. Joining star among the cast are Ben Cross, Cedric Stewart, Frankie Faison, Ivana Milicevic and Rus Blackwell. Banshee premieres January 11 at 10:00 p.m. ET on Cinemax.
