The CW Renews Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries And 90210
Vampires, wealthy good-looking people with drama and the Winchester boys will be back at the CW come the 2012-2013 season. While it's still a bit too early to know exactly what the CW's line-up is going to look like come Fall, the network clearly feels good enough about three of their stronger rated series to give them early renewals.
Among the three is The Vampire Diaries, based on a series of books by L.J. Smith. The series has been on the CW for three seasons. And now fans have even more fanged drama to look forward to as the CW announced that they've renewed it for Season 4. Meanwhile, only slightly older than TVD, the Beverly Hills, 90210 sequel series 90210 will return for a fifth season.
Finally, the oldest of the three series, Supernatural will live to see Season 8. The supernatural-themed drama by Eric Kripke stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as grown brothers who hunt demons and battle other supernatural forces. The fact that the show predates the CW (originally having aired on the WB) and is still going strong has me thinking I may need to finally buckle down and watch this show. I've heard only good things from fans of the long-running series and from what I have seen of it, it'll probably live up to the hype. Maybe it's time to board the monster-driven bandwagon.
Word is still out on some of CW's other shows, including Ringer, Gossip Girl and The Secret Circle. We may have to wait until the upfronts to learn their fate.
