Last Year's Project Trophy Wife Gets A Pilot Order At ABC

ABC is giving a project initially conceived last pilot season another shot at life. Trophy Wife has been given a cast contingent pilot order over at the alphabet network with Private Practice writer and story editor Emily Halpern on board to write and executive produce. The pilot sounds a wee bit more complicated, but probably about as catty, as the title seems to insinuate.

Deadline is reporting the pilot will follow Kate, a woman who likes to get out and party and who may have fallen for the wrong man. The half-hour comedy will follow Kate’s life after she falls for a dude that doesn’t really fit into her regular lifestyle. In fact, the man has three kids and two ex-wives who are always underfoot. The single-camera pilot will follow Kate as she begins adjusting to her “insta-family.”

With two ex-wives scattered about, there will likely be plenty of opportunity for cattiness in Trophy Wife, which is where the title for the project sounds about right. To help the cattiness along, Halpern will be joined in the executive producing arena by her writing partner Sarah Haskins, as well as The Office writing team of Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinksy. If those names sound familiar, it’s probably because you’ve been keeping up with Stephen Merchant’s HBO comedy pilot, Hello Ladies, which Eisenberg and Stupinsky are also on board to produce. This one has got some pretty big names to back it, and TV Blend will keep you posted on any Trophy Wife pilot castings that waft our way.
