Project Runway Enlists Jennifer Hudson To Judge Season 10 Finale
Project Runway fans still have a few weeks before we get to the big fashion week finale. Anyone who keeps a good timeline in their heads or at least follows the fashion world regularly, will already know fashion week is in the midst of happening, and actress and singer Jennifer Hudson has nabbed that oh-so-special finale judging spot on the hit Lifetime competition show.
THR first broke the news, also noting the finale runway show took place this morning in The Theatre at the Lincoln Center. During the show, which will air later on Lifetime, the fabulous dresser wore a teal suit with a gold belt and judged alongside regulars Michael Kors, Nina Garcia, and Heidi Klum, who also serves as the host on the popular show.
If you are wondering how Project Runway is able to tape so many weeks ahead and still keep up the element of surprise, Project Runway employs a couple of unique strategies to maintain the suspense. First, all of the contestants who haven’t been asked to pack up their workroom on television yet get to show a collection, whether or not they actually make it to the finale. Last year, nine showed at Fashion Week and this year, eight have earned the distinction, including Melissa Fleis, Gunnar Deatherage, Christopher Palu, Sonjia Williams, Ven Budhu, Dmitry Sholokhov, Fabio Costa and Elena Slivnyak. Of course, we only get to see the collections of those left in the game when the finale airs on TV.
The judges also generally tape the last part of the finale away from the Fashion Week stage to maintain utmost secrecy. While Project Runway employs a different guest judge every episode, Jennifer Hudson has definitely nabbed the most fun gig of the season. We’ll see if her eye for judging turns out to be as grand as her singing voice!
