Sons Of Anarchy's Kurt Sutter Developing Comedy Diva. Clown. Killer. For FX

Kurt Sutter's known for his dark and gritty motorcycle drama Sons of Anarchy on FX. But how would the SoA showrunner handle a comedy series? We may find out if things go well for the show he's developing for FX, titled Diva. Clown. Killer.. This news had me at Sutter, but the words "clown" and "killer" don't hurt either.

EW has reported that Sutter has sold a comedy project to FX. The script for Diva. Clown. Killer. is described as “dark, absurd comedy about an 80′s has-been rock diva, her dysfunctional son who makes his living as kid’s party clown, and of course, an assassin." Dark, absurd comedy indeed. But let's face it, Sutter's no stranger to dark and FX is no stranger to absurd (or dark, actually). And there's also an element of violence worked into the concept, what with the assassin mention. There's definite potential here.

Hearing the premise for the script, I automatically want Katey Sagal to star as the titled "Diva." She may have her hands full with her role on Sutter's biker drama Sons of Anarchy, but it sounds like starring in the comedy is actually a possibility, from what EW reports, depending on her availability. As fantastic as she is in her role as Gemma on Sons, I can't help but love the idea of her returning to comedy. While it's too soon to know if that will happen, she will be executive producing the project with Belle Zwerdling. And if it actually goes to series, Kurt Sutter won't be the show runner. He will continue on with Sons and someone else will be hired to run the comedy.

We'll have to wait and see what develops from this project. In the meantime, Sons of Anarchy returns September 11 on FX.
