Thor's Jaimie Alexander To Guest Star On ABC's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It’s a big week for television news, thanks to the TCA panels that have been going strong for a few days, now, and shows have teased plenty of excellent news for fans. On Friday, ABC’s Entertainment Group and Marvel made a big announcement for fans of the drama Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After promising the show would get back to its Marvel origins and after tying in with Thor: The Dark World in November, the groups let loose that Jaimie Alexander will head to the series to guest star in a very special episode of the drama as her character from the hit Thor franchise.
Marvel confirmed the news via the company’s official Twitter account, although I daresay that announcement warrants more than one exclamation point.
Alexander is well known in the Marvel universe for playing a character called Lady Sif, based on the Norse goddess of the same name. She’s also known for her awesome costumes and brilliant abilities in battle, and we frequently see her fighting alongside Thor in Marvel’s theatrical films. I don’t see Chris Hemsworth making an appearance in the episode, so I’m guessing she’ll be utilizing her unique skill sets to achieve her own goals on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We’ll find out soon enough. According to Zap2It, the episode is currently in production. Since Episode 12 aired this week, we aren’t too far off from episode 15, although the show looks like it will be taking a break for the next couple of weeks.
When ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was initially conceptualized, it seemed like there would be plenty of opportunities for various Marvel characters to crossover into television. While Cobie Smoulders’ Maria Hill popped up in the first episode and Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson has been an integral part of the series, we haven’t seen a ton of big name characters pop up. Maybe Alexander’s appearance will pique the interest of Marvel fans once more, and bring a few more eyeballs to the series in the process (no offense, Bill Paxton). If the episode is successful, I imagine the production will work that much harder to nab guest stints in the future.
You can catch ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
