The week of April 11th is officially the week of the homegrown hero. On April 13th, just three days before Kick-Ass hits theaters, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Defendor on DVD.

When Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson) isn’t directing traffic around construction sites, he’s fighting crime as Defendor. In an attempt to take down his archrival, Captain Industry, Defendor will do anything necessary, even if it means unleashing limejuice, marbles, and jars of wasps on those in his way. With the help of a young prostitute (Kat Dennings), this average joe-turned-superhero must put his life on the line to nab Captain Industry and avenge his mother’s death.

If the Harrelson resurgence isn’t enough to make you want to drop $24.96 on this DVD, the superheroes-sans-superpower craze should. The Defendor DVD will be packing more heat than the kooky hero himself. As reported by DVD Active, there will be cast and crew commentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and, best of all, outtakes.
