It's our special hour long year end wrap up for 2006. This week we look back at the year from one of the biggest (and most disappointing) news stories (Halo) to our favorite movies (Pirates of the Caribbean) to our most disappointing (Barnyard); our favorite new television shows ("Heroes") to the stars we think are the most overexposed in 2006 (Channing Tatum, Borat, and the three bimbos of the apocalypse). Hear our final words on 2006 here! (Third seat: Ron Telsch and Kristi Telsch)

It's hard to believe it's December already. It feels like only yesterday that Beerfest was in theaters, but it comes out on DVD this week, celebrated by Margaret with a barrage of belches, Rafe gives a short review of The Holiday which hits theaters this week, and the show talks about the surge of '80s remakes and sequels announced this week. We also discuss the DVD week of Superman, Peter Jackson being removed from The Hobbit despite nobody quite knowing who has the rights to even make the movie, the death of Robert Altman, and more! Margaret and our guests talk about Jim and Pam's reunion on "The Office," what "My Name is Earl" has in common with Al Gore, the switch of Dallas: the Movie from drama to comedy, and some of the actors on their lists, including Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and (of course) Ryan Reynolds. We've been criticized for not seeing Borat and, after a second successful weekend at the Box Office, we feel the criticism is fair, so this time we have someone join us who has seen it. We also discuss the promotional tools being sent out for Accepted on DVD, Brittany and Kevin Federline's break up (no kidding) and respond to the Spider-Man 3 trailer... with new concerns. It's Halloween which means it's time for all those spooky movies we all know and love. Joining us for a roundtable discussion on our favorite horror flicks and franchises are show regulars Rafe Telsch, Margaret Williams, Tim Kennard, and special guest Joe Bear, one of the biggest gore-hounds we know. Saw 3 is the only major release for next week, sparking a conversation about the third movie and the franchise as a whole. That's not the only area of discussion as we talk more about "The Office," mourn the potentailly dead Halo, correct the incorrect Live Free or Die Hard casting news we talked about last week, try and figure out if there's room for Fraggles in today's world, and debate what the appropriate gift for Rafe's birthday would be (hint: Tim's idea came from Clerks II and I don't recommend it!)

Some of Rafe's vast amounts of knowledge is demystified this week as he gets caught looking stuff up several times over the course of the show. We still have a lot of fun introducing our new contest "Trick or Treat," discussing the typical box office news and upcoming films, and going over recent casting news and rumors with special guest Kristi Telsch in the third seat. Also featured: our favorite television performance of the week: Randy from "My Name is Earl"... accompanied by Margaret.

There's a little lull in news this week, giving us the chance to talk about television and video games a little bit. The show really takes off with the praise of A Prairie Home Companion being Lindsay Lohan's "good" movie this year and the comment that Morgan Freeman has made bad movies, both of which prompt Margaret's response to "take that back." Also discussed this week: mini-reviews of The Departed, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, and Employee of the Month, movie theaters that won't carry certain movies, and the idea that Eddie Murphy should hang his career up.

Tim sits this week out but we are joined by The Podcast Dad, Ron Telsch in the third seat. We talk about the bad place Flyboys is in compared to how pretty Little Miss Sunshine is sitting. Margaret offers a brief review of Jackass: Number 2 and we talk sequels, sequels, and prequels, which seems to be all that Hollywood is generating news on this week: Fantastic Four, Predator 3, Alien vs. Predator 2, Wargames 2, and a remake of 3:10 to Yuma.

Who wants to die? Tom Cruise seems to be our popular answer on this episode as we look at his potential replacement in the Mission Impossible franchise, along with a look at most of the other action franchises that are currently active. The last day (for us) of DragonCon brought horror legend George Romero and "Lost" story editor Paul Dini. Listen as we talk about what we learned about Romero's take on his own movies, his surprisingly unexcited opinion of his next movie and how he feels about some of the more recent "zombie" flicks. Then hear Dini's philosophy towards "Lost" and his previous project "Batman Beyond". All of that plus Marilyn Monroe with The Penguin

It took quite a bit of work to finally get a show to you, so we hope you appreciate it. It's brief but covers a lot of what we've seen and heard here, including very little information on Ann McCaffery's Pern movie adaptation and the latest from the "Babylon 5" crowd as well as a few tidbits from former "Lost" producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach.

Summer is officially over for the film industry, with lackluster box office returns for the weekend. We talk about the lack of interest in this week's offerings, what's coming up both in theaters and for the Weekly Blend over the next couple of weeks, the MPAA expose This Film Is Not Yet Rated, Trey Parker and Matt Stone replacing Tom Cruise at Paramount, and George Lucas's comments on Indiana Jones and the Phantom Menace. Snakes on a Plane did mediocre business over the weekend. Was it because the movie was bad or just misunderstood? Check out our reactions to Snakes in this week's show as well as the latest on Transformers news, Mike Judge's Idiocracy, and a lot about this week's new movie and DVD releases. Oh, and some Batman stuff too. Don't forget to look back at our When Do We Eat and Silent Hill episodes for interviews with the cast members of those respective movies, both of which come out on DVD this week.

Did everyone go see Channing Tatum in Step Up this weekend? It certainly seems like it given the Box Office upset. Regardless of how bad things seem this weekend it all gets better next week with the arrival of Snakes on a Plane, a movie Margaret has been dreading since March (and still does). We talk about Samuel L. Jackson's upcoming opus along with news including the director announcement for Halo, Brett Ratner wanting to remake Boys From Brazil, and how everyone is wild about Phillip K. Dick.

Ever have one of those days where you can't remember a name to save your life? That's me this week, with just about every name we ran into. Despite that we talk about the upcoming World Trade Center, the confirmation about The Dark Knight and The Golden Compass, and Samuel L. Jackson delivers a personal message to the skeptical Margaret to see Snakes on a Plane.

This week marks the return of Margaret (after a week's absence) and Ron Telsch, back by popular demand. Before the show gets completely out of control we discuss Miami Vice's successful weekend at the box office, V for Vendetta on DVD this week, and Dakota Fanning's Oscar stunt. After things go haywire we attempt to talk about other news, like the new Babylon 5 universe direct to DVD episodes and new trailers, but alas, a show can only be as stable as its moderator.

Something important is missing this week, but our special guest Kristi Telsch helps the show move on. Rafe offers up mini reviews on Clerks II, Lady in the Water, and Monster House. You spoke and we listened, so this week marks the new, longer Weekly Blend Audio Show, although episodes will still only come out once a week. Tim Kennard returns and this week we use the extra time to really look at the movies that are coming out this coming week. Between Clerks II, Lady in the Water, and Monster House it's looking to be quite a week. We also discuss Disney's announced cutbacks, Harrison Ford turning 64, Transformers news, and the recent Halo rumors.

Pirates of the Caribbean is the major subject this week, breaking box office numbers and causing conflict among critics who couldn't seem to make up their minds. Did the Weekly Blend love it or hate it? Returning guest Tim Kennard joins us to figure it out as well as talk about Hollywoodland and Paul W.S. Anderson's upcoming Castlevania movie.

It's a supersized 45 minute show this week as Margaret and I are joined by our resident musician B Bagby (einsteinsmonkey.com). The three of us discuss Superman Returns as both a movie and a box office disappointment which has no chance of taking on Pirates of the Caribbean this weekend. Other topics include the new Spider-Man 3 trailer, the lack of interest in Transformers (it's not just me this time), and Kevin Smith's upcoming Clerks II. Check it out!

Superman Mania has hit the rest of the site, so why not the podcast too? Excitement about Superman's return to the big screen takes center stage, although we find time to discuss Matt Damon as Captain Kirk, Brittany Murphy as Tinkerbell, and Johnny Depp's desire to continue on as Captain Jack Sparrow. Margaret is missing at the show's opening for the first time since she became a regular. Who better to replace her on Father's Day than my own dad, Ron Telsch. We debate the merit of the Tokyo drift as an Olympic sport, muse over Eminem as the new Paladin, throw down the gauntlet for Uwe Boll's challenge, and talk about AFI's newest list: 100 most inspirational movies. Whew, that's a lot to fit into one show. All of that, and Rafe comes out of the closet to his dad, on this week's Weekly Blend!

This week's show picks up where last week left off: with Transformers news. We also discuss the box office, although neither of us saw Cars, talk about how egotistical Lindsay Lohan has gotten, and give credit to The Princess Bride even though the movie is finding its way to DVD for a third time.

Rafe has been sick and busy this week, but the show must go on! There are a lot of releases to talk about this week, both theatrically (Cars, The Omen) and DVD (Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2 disc unrated edition?). On top of those, we discuss the winners of the MTV Movie Awards, new Spider-Man 3 news, and Disney's latest plan for downloadable movies.

X-Men: The Last Stand dominates the box office this weekend and most of our conversation despite not being a good movie. Margaret reinforces what I said about Over the Hedge and we talk about Ghost Rider, Good, and more sequels for The DaVinci Code and X-Men. All that and annoying theater patrons on this week's Weekly Blend!

DaVinci Code definitely brings in the summer box office and I give my impressions on both that film and the less successful but superior Over the Hedge. We chat about a few movie projects that have been cancelled and moved in the last week. Finally, former CB critic Bill Beyrer drops by to give us the skinny on his upcoming Showtime project, "Hollywood Buzzsaw."

It's trailer talk time this week as Margaret and I give our opinions on the last two weeks' onslaught of trailers on top of other news. The movie industry is definitely taking a beating thus far this year, with Tom Cruise and hundred foot waves both capsizing. Will Pirates, X-Men, and Superman be enough to build up the box office before critics start pointing out the box office shortage of 2006?

We discuss the arrival of the first big summer blockbuster: Mission Impossible III, the poor showing at the box office this past weekend with RV suprisingly taking top honors, and Marvel's huge onslaught of news this past week. Okay, so I lied - we're going to have a midweek edition after all, albeit a shorter one. This is our interview with Jodelle Ferland, the youngest actress I've ever interviewed (at the age of 11) who is featured in the upcoming Silent Hill movie. Her image on the Silent Hill poster is currently one of the most graffitied images in New York City right now. We talk about that and a couple other things in this giggle-laden podcast.

It's a Weekly Blend first this week as we actually follow through on interviews from setup to transmission. New to podcasting? It's easy. Our audio show has its own RSS 2.0 feed to let you know when it's been updated. You use software that reads that RSS feed to download new shows as each one becomes available. If you have an iPod you can even use the software to automatically move the show over to iTunes to download the next time you sync up. Even if you don't podcast you can use the RSS feed with myYahoo or other XML programs to let you know when a new show is up.
We suggest iPodder or Doppler for Windows users, and ipodderX for the Mac, or (of course) good old iTunes for either platform.
