Layers Of Fear was a remarkable trip into the darkest corners of your mind, and now the developer has announced that the horror game is getting an example, called Inheritance. You can watch the video below.
While the original game let players take control of the painter himself, the DLC is going to run a little differently. In Inheritance, players get to take control of the painter's daughter as she relives her horrid childhood with her insane father.
If it's anything like the first game, there will be mind-boggling puzzles and cheap thrills to keep you awake all night long.
We reviewed this game when it was released and we were only halfway impressed because of the overindulgence of jump-scares and a flurry of bugs and control issues. But despite some small problems with the gameplay, the game itself was solid and could stand on its own as a survival horror game worthy enough to live in the P.T. era.
I personally didn't enjoy the game as much as others, maybe because I am so desensitized and require a certain kind of horror to truly scare me. While jump-scares are cop-outs, I enjoy a game who can really create that atmospheric kind of horror, something subtle and frightening from something you wouldn't expect. Unfortunately, Layers Of Fear just didn't have that for me. And while my review was a tad brutal, it's still a survival horror game that's fun to pick up and play for a few hours. I'll never say no to a horror game, as long as it's done somewhat well.
Inheritance will be releasing on August second in just a few weeks. It will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. For more information, you can check out the game's official website.
