Telltale has announced that The Walking Dead: Season 3 will premiere for home consoles and PC starting in November. A specific date wasn't narrowed down. but the game will be available both digitally and through a physical season pass disc that will grant gamers access to future episodes in the season.
Gamespot is reporting that the news has come out of this year's PAX West in Seattle, Washington. The roll out of The Walking Dead: Season 3 will be similar to how they're handling Batman: The Telltale Series, where it's possible to download each episode individually from digital distributors or you can purchase the entire season from a season pass disc, which will be available from participating retailers.
But in addition to giving gamers the heads-up about The Walking Dead: Season 3 coming this November, Telltale has also detailed some of the story and character elements about the third season of the highly lauded adventure game series. As mentioned in previous articles, Clementine will be coming back as the protagonist in the third season. Joining Clementine will be a second playable character, Javier. The two characters are both desperately trying to survive, and Telltale has revealed that the game takes place several years after the events of season two.
In one of the images they released they show Clementine with a baby she's looking after, with one of her fingers missing and bandaged.
As most fans of The Walking Dead know, the main characters in the series are not immune to the effects of the zombie apocalypse. The game set a pretty harsh precedent with the first season, where players took on the role of the tragic anti-hero Lee Everett, who befell a rather gruesome fate in his attempt to protect Clementine throughout their wild and perilous journey.
One of the things that really helped set Telltale's take on The Walking Dead apart from the TV show and other games is that they really wanted the player's input and decisions to have a long-reaching effect on the outcomes in future episodes and future seasons, so players have been seeing how their choices early on have affected and changed the story throughout the series' availability on the market.
According to Gamespot, the game's trademark choice-driven narrative will return and players will still be able to pick and choose dialogue and other important decisions that will shape the outcome of the events involving Clementine, Javier, and other characters within The Walking Dead universe as well.
Previously, Telltale had made a few other intermediary Walking Dead entries between the main seasons, including a mini-series involving a prequel story about Michonne called The Walking Dead: Michonne.
Telltale has still been mum about any further details regarding the story, features and dangers that players will face off against in the upcoming season, but gamers and fans of the series will find out soon enough when November gets here.
At present they're wrapping up the Batman: The Telltale Series episodes, whose first season will conclude in December. So as The Walking Dead: Season 3 is getting underway, the adventures of Batman's first season will be coming to an end.
