Four more games will be made available for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this November, two of which are already considered classics and the other two could help flesh out your library with some added flavor.
*Super Dungeon Bros: *Available on Xbox One between November 1st and November 30th.
Murdered: Soul Suspect: Available on Xbox One between November 16th and December 15th.
The Secret Of Monkey Island: Special Edition: Available on Xbox 360 between November 1st and November 15th.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon: Available on Xbox 360 between November 16th and November 30th.
Each of the four games were listed over on Major Nelson's official website, where it was reiterated that all four games will be playable on the Xbox One due to the Xbox 360 titles being made available to the eighth-gen console through backwards compatibility.
Earlier this year Microsoft and Ubisoft came to terms with making Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon a backwards compatible title on the Xbox One. It was truly one of the hidden gems of seventh gen. Creative director Dean Evans teamed up with actor Michael Biehn to give gamers a blast to the past with Blood Dragon. The game combined a lot of really awesome 1980s and early 1990s sci-fi and action movie tropes into one massive Fruit Rollup of action-gaming sweetness.
The hook for Blood Dragon was in the stylized vector look that made Tron famous, and the cheesy one-liners that Sgt. Rex Colt (Biehn's character) fired off throughout the short but sweet campaign. The weapons included throwbacks to Robocop, Terminator 2 and Aliens.
Essentially, Blood Dragon was nothing but a total conversion mod based on the Far Cry 3 assets and core engine. It was pretty crazy because a lot of people (including myself) felt as if Blood Dragon was better than the original Far Cry 3. They did everything right with the changes that they made, especially in regards to the aesthetic, that awesome soundtrack by Power Glove, the cartoon cinematic sequences, and the hilariously fitting voice acting. If you haven't guessed by now, that's a big endorsement from me to you to download the game once it becomes available for free for Xbox Live Gold members on November 16th.
Another game on the list worth keeping an eye on is Super Dungeon Bros, which is actually brand new from React Games and Wired Productions. The four-player loot-and-shoot dungeon crawler is similar to classics like Gauntlet but with new-school looting mechanics like Dungeon Defenders. The game will also launch on PS4 and PC, but Xbox One owners with Xbox Live Gold will get it for free as part of the Games With Gold program.
Of course, there's also the classic Secret of Monkey Island, which is a re-release based on the classic from 1990. If you're into point-and-click adventure games it's definitely something worth checking out, especially if you're tired of shooters, racing games and space titles.
And finally, there's Square Enix and Airtight Games' Murderd: Souls Suspect. The game never really hit it off big but a lot of people felt it was perfectly mediocre, so it's definitely something worth checking out since it's going to be free.
