Titanfall 2

The end of the year is upon us, which means it's time for digital retailers like the PlayStation Network to get in one final Holiday Sale before folks can flip over the calendar to 2017. There're some pretty impressive deals this week, too, including some older goodies mixed in with some more recent arrivals.

The PlayStation Network Holiday Sale has entered its final week, offering up to 75 percent off of a huge number of games and movies between now and Jan. 3. If you happen to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber, then your savings actually go on up to 85 percent off.

This final week's roster is impressive, including 143 games across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, as well as a whole bunch of discounted movies to help you ring in the New Year. You'll want to peruse the full list to pick out something special but, in the meantime, we'll cherry pick some of our favorite offerings here.

Sadly, the PlayStation Vita is feeling a bit underrepresented in this week's sales, especially since it's quietly had a really great year in terms of new games. Thankfully, all of those offerings for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 make up for it, offering some truly great games for some really low prices. Again, this is only a sampling of the full list, but we figure it serves as a good launching point for the deals you'll want to keep an eye out for. Those movie sales are pretty great, too, offering some big films for as low as three bucks.

I will now shamelessly use this opportunity to give you a personal top pick from that list: Titanfall 2. I don't know what it's going to take to get people to understand just how good of a shooter that game is but, for 30 bucks, you'd be crazy not to pick it up and start 2017 off on a high note. I finally grabbed it a couple of weeks ago and my only regret was not doing so sooner. I have no horse in this race, I just hate to see a truly great game get ignored because its publisher made a boneheaded decision to launch it literally sandwiched between the genre's two heaviest hitters.
