Killing Floor 2

We're already fast approaching June and that means announcements for what free games gamers will receive as part of their PlayStation Plus subscription. While Sony has yet to officially unveil the titles, the Turkish PlayStation outlet mistakenly let slip two of the titles that are apparently coming to PS Plus in June. It looks like the service will offer up Life is Strange and Killing Floor 2 in just a few days.

According to VG 24/7 there was a bit of a slip-up by the Turkish version of the official PlayStation Twitter account, which posted up two images of the games that will be free on PS Plus for the month of June, and it includes Killing Floor 2 and Life is Strange. The two games were accompanied by two images on social media. After people began retweeting and commenting about the games, the Turkish account deleted the tweet, but they forgot about the number one rule of the internet: the internet never forgets.

Screen captures were taken of the two games before Sony's official Turkish account had time to delete the tweet, and it let everyone know that Life is Strange and Killing Floor 2 will be two of the handful of games that will be free for PS Plus members throughout June.

There are a couple of caveats to consider, however. For instance, what we don't know is if Life is Strange is the full season or just the first episode. The game had a total of five episodes spanning the entire season. So it would make sense to lure gamers in by giving them the first episode for free and then they would have to purchase the other four episodes to get the full experience.

It's a good tactic if that's the plan to create interest in the rest of the game ahead of whatever Dontnod Entertainment has planned for the next entry in the Life Is Strange series. They recently announced that they would be working on a new adventure. However, we don't know if that adventure will be an actual sequel, a spin-off, a new season, or take on an all new set of characters.

Keeping the game relevant and on the minds of gamers through June would be a smart tactic, especially if Dontnod has plans on announcing something at E3 this year during one of the major press conferences.

The other title, Killing Floor 2, is something I didn't expect to see on the list. PlayStation Plus subscribers have been incessantly complaining about the lack of quality of free PS Plus titles handed out each month, so this will surely turn around those criticisms.

Killing Floor 2 is the sequel to the arena-based survival shooter game from Tripwire Interactive that came out back in 2009 on Steam. The game was a decent Unreal Engine first-person shooter with a lot of scalability thanks to the mods and community support. The sequel took everything that worked in the original Killing Floor and then evolved it tenfold.

Tripwire implemented an all new gore system that's every bit as satisfyingly disgusting as you could imagine, and they've also upgraded the character class abilities, added in tons of new weapons, and expanded the stages and graphics.

PS Plus subscribers with a penchant for FPS titles will definitely enjoy Killing Floor 2 as the free game for the month, assuming that it really is part of the PS Plus line-up for June.
