As promised, Io Interactive has continued to churn out new content for Hitman on a regular basis. But along with the regular onslaught of monthly activities for October, the developer has announced that something brand new will be making its way into the game, and it'll be announced on Oct. 24.
The latest update on the IoI blog is full of the expected announcements. They go over the new featured contracts being added in October, as well as details on the Master Scarecrow Challenge Pack and some new curated featured contracts. We'll go over all of that in a moment, but the big announcement didn't drop until the bottom of the blog post, where the Hitman team reveals something big will soon be announced.
The developers are encouraging players to mark their calendar for Oct. 24, 2 p.m. CEST. At that time, the big announcement will be revealed, and Io isn't offering anything in the form of spoilers. The single piece of information they offer is actually about what fans should not expect, rather than what they should.
So, save the date, let's hope it doesn't leak and we'll see you there!
Since they want the announcement to speak for itself, we're guessing it'll take the form of a video reveal. Otherwise, if it's big enough to have the developer this excited, we're definitely intrigued. And we definitely appreciate them noting that this won't be an announcement for a second season of content. Without that note, we have no doubt that is exactly what everyone would be expecting. So we figure this is going to be substantial enough to warrant some hype, but not necessarily the "big announcement" fans have been anticipating.
The latest Hitman game did some interesting things with its launch, releasing big chunks of story and challenges on a regular basis rather than all at once. That gave players a chance to really dig into each new location, its side challenges, and major contracts. On top of that, the team released additional missions and player-made offerings at regular intervals.
This month, 10 new featured contracts are being dropped into the game, alongside 10 player-curated featured contracts, which were created by other Hitman fans. Finally, there's a Master Scarecrow Challenge Pack available, which will be set in the Colorado location. It includes five new challenges and a new reward item that can be used at any in-game location. More details on this pack will apparently be revealed at a future date, though we're fairly confident this isn't the Oct. 24 announcement IoI has been going on about.
