Bandai Namco has revealed the next playable character to join the ever-growing list of pugilists in the super popular 2D fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ. The newest entry to the roster is Zamasu, one of the new characters introduced during the Dragon Ball Super arc.
The news was revealed via a tweet over on the official Bandai Namco twitter account. The tweet only mentioned that the inter-dimensional god would be "coming soon" to the Dragon Ball FighterZ roster, but on the upside they did reveal a few in-game shots of some of his combat tactics, special moves and design.
We see a number of shots of Zamasu in action, including a beautiful shot of a winged bird causing some massive damage in the world.
The next shot showcases Zamasu raining down a purple bolt onto Future Trunks. We also see another shot of Trunks and Zamasu outside, where more pain is about to rain down on Trunks as a volley of fireballs are ready to do some serious damage. We get to see another shot of what looks like the finale of a fight where Zamasu is is finishing off Trunks with an explosive Ki blast.
I imagine before Zamasu becomes available in _Dragon Ball FighterZ, _ there will be a gameplay trailer made available to show him off in action.
Zamasu is one of many characters that Bandai has plans on adding to the ever-growing roster in the highly popular fighting game. Originally he appeared in Dragon Ball Super as an observer during a tournament, but later became the arch-villain for the Z Fighters when in an alternate dimension he managed to take over Goku's body and become Goku Black.
As Goku Black, Zamasu managed to take over the entire planet and rule it as a tyrant, very similar to the alternate storylines in the DC Universe where Superman becomes evil.
It's fitting in the screenshots for Dragon Ball FighterZ that we see Zamasu fighting Future Trunks because it was Future Trunks who traveled through dimensions to acquire the help of Goku, Vegeta and the other Z Fighters in order to defeat Goku Black and destroy Zamasu.
Bandai didn't reveal if the DLC character will come with any sort of story-oriented chapters to flesh out his inclusion into the story, but it's not unlikely.
Bandai Namco has been doing a lot to give the fans what they want, and it's likely that there will be plenty more fan-favorite characters to join the roster throughout the year. For now gamers will have to settle for knowing that a new character is on the way, they just won't know exactly when.
