After 14 years of talking to gamers from the big, glowing box in the living room, it came as a shock to many last April when station staple Adam Sessler announced that he would be leaving G4. After some downtime and soul searching, though, it looks like The Sess will be returning to the industry as the new editor in chief of Revision3’s games division.
The announcement was made official through Revision3’s blog this morning, featuring a statement from Sr. VP of Programming and Production Ryan Vance, as well as Sessler himself.
Vance and Sessler first got together back in 2000 when working on ZDTV’s Gamespot TV. They went on to work together at TechTV, creating X-Play nearly a decade ago. Sessler continued to work on X-Play alongside co-host Morgan Webb until he left G4 earlier this year. And, if you’ve been keeping up with the headline, X-Play itself will be brought to a close later this year as G4 shifts its programming focus.
Vance bent Sessler’s ear about joining up with Revision3 back in May of this year, apparently, and now the guys will be joining the likes of Max Scoville, Tara Long and Anthony Carboni in order to create game-related content for the site.
“I know Adam can’t wait to throw himself fully into the online video space and become a leader in this world as he did in the world of traditional television,” Vance said.
Sessler, for his part, was very candid about his decision to join up with Revision3.
“I didn’t know what I was going to do, but it was exhilarating to get to make that choice,” he said. “It was clear that to get back to covering games with my values, I needed to get back to my roots.”
