Sega announced today that they will be publishing a new Aliens vs. Predator game, set to come out in early 2010 2010. The game will be developed by Rebellion, the studio that produced the 1999 AvP shooter.

Most likely this is another first-person shooter given Rebellion's experience but no gameplay information was given. No idea about platforms, either. The press release does note that Sega will announce more details soon. Maybe they'll have something to show off at the New York Toy Fair this weekend?

The release also mentions that "SEGA has strategically updated the release of the other upcoming Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio." Basically, a coded way of stating that either the Aliens RPG being developed by Obsidian Entertainment or the Aliens: Colonial Marines shooter being developed by Gearbox Software could have their release dates pushed around. We haven't heard much about either project lately so it's good to know that they're still kicking.
