Today 38 Studios unveiled the first in-game footage of Project Copernicus, the MMO set in the same world as Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. The new trailer gives us a bird's eye view of many of the game's locations.
The video suggests they've already created much of the game world. There's a lot of diversity in the environments showcased here. The video shows a rugged fort in the mountains, underground cities, forests, swamps, and more.
As was the case with Reckoning, the environments of Copernicus are all brightly colored and clean. They're going for a "high fantasy" look. It's a nice change from the grittiness that a lot of games strive for.
That being said, I can't think of a high-profile MMO released in the past few years that didn't have an attractive world. That's a standard feature at this point. It remains to be revealed what 38 Studios will do with this world to make it stand out in the crowded MMO market.
Project Copernicus is currently undated. However, it's been suggested that we can expect it next summer.
