Ubisoft has released the first screenshots from Assassin's Creed 3's multiplayer. It appears that players will once again engage in a game of cat and mouse in the online modes.

In the multiplayer from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed Revelations, every player is an Assassin. They stalk and kill other players, with bonus points awarded for stealthy takedowns. It's unlike pretty much any other online experience out there so Ubisoft would be wise to keep it intact for AC3.

The screenshots show a colorful cast of characters attacking each other at an icy port. The characters shown include a hammer-wielding thug, a young lass with a hook, and a Native American warrior. Each has their own distinct takedown movie, as per series tradition.

To my knowledge, Ubisoft hasn't actually announced anything about the game's multiplayer yet. We'll let you know when that changes.
