An alleged retailer poster for Assassin's Creed 4 has hit the Internet. The poster suggests that the game is called Black Flag and focuses on high seas piracy.

In the poster, a white hooded figure is sword-fighting with pirates on the deck of a ship. It's not clear who the figure is, but we do know it's not Assassin's Creed 3 hero Connor. Ubisoft said earlier this month that the next AC would have a new hero.

Kotaku, who obtained the teaser art from an anonymous source, notes that this isn't the first we've heard of Black Flag. A Reddit user said earlier this month that they had seen a PowerPoint presentation for the game. Another Reddit tipster said that had overheard a meeting about the game's advertising.

Ubisoft has already confirmed that the upcoming Assassin's Creed will introduce a new time period, too. I was hoping that meant we would see a completely new era, such as the future or ancient history. However, it seems that the shift will be more dramatic. This game might be set a matter of decades before or after AC3's Revolutionary War period.

Get your speculation done in a hurry. Ubisoft is hosting an Assassin's Creed event on Wednesday, during which time we'll probably find out whether this poster is legit or not.
