Pre-ordering Assassin's Creed 4 will give gamers access to a special VIP program called The Watch. The Watch members will get exclusive information about the game as well as in-game content.
Ubisoft will notify The Watch members first about any Assassin's Creed news, including release dates and upcoming events. They'll also have access to regular features about the characters, setting, and other aspects of AC4. All this information will then obviously be posted on various gaming forums five minutes after Ubisoft releases it to the Watch members. For those five minutes, though, you're a damn VIP.
All of this information will be released through a special social media platform available on PC, tablets and smartphones. Players will be able to participate in discussion with each other or upload their own content (fan art?). A small group of community members will also be chosen to impart Assassin's Creed knowledge on the "Experts" section of this site.
The biggest selling point for The Watch, though, is the bonus in-game content. Members will get access to exclusive quests and rewards that are only available for a limited time. Leaderboards will track the performance of The Watch members in these quests.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is set decades before the events of AC3. Players take on the role of Captain Edward Kenway and do pirate-y things throughout the Caribbean. The game's due this fall on consoles and PC.
