The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition will be accompanied by a month-long celebration known as Loot Hunt. During this event, players can win several prizes including $100,000 in cash.
The Loot Hunt will start on October 11th and run until November 7th. Every day, a new target will be announced for players to kill. Taking the target down enters you for a chance to win that day's prize - provided, of course, that you're connected to the Internet while you're playing. These enemies are also guaranteed to drop a piece of unique in-game loot.
"Once you get the special gun, then you get to be part of what we're calling Community Goals," says the Loot Hunt website. "Basically, a Community Goal involves killing a special type of enemy with that day's unique gun. If you guys cumulatively kill enough enemies singled out in the daily Community Goals, then you'll unlock a Community Reward (read: uniquely super-awesome gun) at the week's end!"
The grand prize of the Loot Hunt is $50,000. Four other players will win smaller amounts that add up to another $50,000. You can also win all sorts of other freebies:
