Valve sent out a press release this morning detailing the new mode for the upcoming multiplatform, multiplayer, online first-person shooter, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The new modes that will have gamers glued to their seats for hours on-end is called “Arsenal Mode”.

The new modes comes courtesy of a popular mod made famous in Counter Strike: Source. And I must add that I love how Valve really inculcates the gaming community within their business infrastructures and moving things forward collectively. Anyway, the mode was originally called Gun Game and it's making a return in CS: GO.

The spin-off from the Gun Game mod includes a total of eight new maps across two sub-modes called Arsenal: Arms Race and Arsenal: Demolition. Valve even brought in the original modders of Gun Game to help them work on and perfect the Arsenal Mode(s) in the upcoming Counter Strike: GO.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Gun Game rules, it’s quite simple: Every player starts with a basic weapon and can only receive better weapons by getting kills. I imagine there will be a lot of raging and QQ’ing taking place on the opposing team once someone gets hold of an AK-47 or M16.

Anyways, Counter Strike: Global Offensive is set for release in early 2012 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC via Steam. You want to keep up to date on all things Counter Strike? Feel free to visit the Official Website.
