Today Harmonix announced the launch dates for its Xbox 360 rump-shaking game Dance Central 3. They've also unveiled another batch of songs featured on the soundtrack.

The track list for DC3 has a mixture of both old and new tunes. Gloria Gaynor, 50 Cent and Usher are a few of the artists featured by the game. Harmonix felt the need to justify the eclectic soundtrack with a time-travel storyline. I'm not really sure why a rhythm game needs any sort of narrative but I appreciate the effort all the same.

Harmonix announced eleven tracks today. These songs, along with the ten announced at E3, account for about half of the total soundtrack.
  • 2NE1 – “I Am The Best (Original Version)”
  • Alice Deejay – “Better Off Alone”
  • Backstreet Boys – “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”
  • J.J. Fad – “Supersonic”
  • Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz ft. Ying Yang Twins – “Get Low”
  • LMFAO – “Sexy And I Know It”
  • Los Del Rio – “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)”
  • Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera – “Moves Like Jagger”
  • Vanilla Ice – “Ice Ice Baby”
  • Vicki Sue Robinson – “Turn The Beat Around”
  • Village People – “Y.M.C.A.”
DC3 will introduce several new game modes. Crew Throwdown will let two teams of players face off in pairs. In Make Your Move, players create dance moves on the fly and their opponent has to mimic them. Keep The Beat mode, meanwhile, scores the originality and rhythm of your freestyling.

Harmonix will release DC3 on October 16th. The European, Asian and Australian release is scheduled for the 19th. It's arriving just a couple weeks after Just Dance 4. JD4 is pretty much the only valid competitor on the market so I'm sure there's enough money to go around for both. Still, it'll be interesting to see which one brings in more sales on the 360.

Gaming Blend's own Loquacious Muse had a chance to try out DC3 at E3 earlier this summer. She used phrases like "badass" and "awesome," which seems promising. You can read her preview here.
