I love goooooold. And soon you will too. For those of you who still manage to get by gaming on your Xbox 360 without a Gold account, this weekend is your chance to see what all the fuss is about. Starting today and going through Monday, gamers in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Japan can enjoy a free weekend of Xbox Live Gold.

Announced through the Major Nelson blog, this free Xbox Live Gold weekend started today, April 19, at 10 a.m. ET. Free access for gamers in the above mentioned territories will continue until Monday Morning, April 22, at 1 p.m. ET.

“All Xbox owner in these regions, regardless of their current Xbox Live subscription status, will have access to lining multiplayer gaming, Video Kinect and our entire catalog of entertainment apps,” reads the announcement.

As an added bonus, the free Gold weekend happens to coincide with a number of timely launches and spiffy promotions.

For starters, the new horror series, Hemlock Grove, launches today on Netflix, in its entirety. Once it goes live, your free Gold access will grant admittance to your existing Netflix streaming account, making this the perfect opportunity to marathon the show while watching from the comfort of your couch.

Xbox Tournaments with Virgin Gaming will also be live this weekend, allowing players to join free-to-enter tournaments in games including FIFS 13, NBA 2K13, Madden 13 and NHL 13.

Call of Duty Black Ops II will be hosting a double XP weekend over the next few days, as will Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 3.

Finally, now that you can take your copy of Borderlands 2 online, a free Golden Key Code should result in some spiffy new weaponry. To grab the Key Code for yourself, visit the above linked blog post.
