For those who feared that the God of War: Ascension multiplayer experience would be thrown out into the wild and abandoned, you'll be happy to learn that the team at Sony Santa Monica Studios are now prepping the game's second big online update, fixing random bugs and adding new features. The game has only been out for a few weeks, so that sounds like some pretty decent support, if you ask me.

Designer Vincent Napoli made the announcement this morning through the PlayStation blog, explaining that, while there's a new update ready to roll right now for God of War: Ascension, the studio is still hard at work on the next batch of updates, too.

“One of the primary reasons we've been relatively quiet in the last week regarding support and DLC updates is because we've been heads down, working on an update which expands our God of War: Ascension multiplayer experience and addresses some key issues our community has helped us identify and diagnose,” Napoli said. “There are lots of gameplay developments coming down the pipeline, and today we'll be sharing some of the stuff that's moved into our final testing and tuning phase.”

Now that some new skins and some tweaks to one of the game's hardest sections has been fine-tuned, the next batch of additions includes things like elite levels and champion stats. The elite levels add an additional 10 levels of awesomeness to grind through for each of the game's allegiances, as well as a new item, two new relics and an “ultimate magic” for each allegiance. Champion stats, on the other hand, allow players to show off their accomplishment so other players can see how well, or poorly, they've been doing.

That new stuff is coming with the usual assortment of bug fixes, addressing audio issues, matchmaking optimization to keep the noobs from the leet, as well as shard and unlock requirement fixes.

Expect to hear more as update 1.04 gets ready to invade God of War: Ascension.
