Starting tomorrow you won’t have to prove yourself as a skater to shred licks on Guitar Hero III. Activision sent along a nice note letting us know that the Xbox Live demo will be up this week, and it includes the five face melting songs we’ve been seeing in videos the last week or so. The demo will work with the Xplorer or a gamepad, so you won’t have to worry about getting the Gibson to play properly. A Guitar Hero Weekend has also been announced, featuring online tournaments and lots of prizes.
When you fire up the demo for GHIII there will be five songs available to try out. This includes “The Metal” by Tenacious D, a truly epic song by the greatest gods of rock ever forged by the fires of hell. My personal goal will to at least get all 5 tracks perfected on Medium, 90% on Hard for all, and ultimately at least finish each once on Expert by the time the full game ships. The tracks you’ll be shredding are as follows:
Beginning on November 2nd, the developers of GHIII will be joining fans via Xbox Live for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Weekend. Fans will be able to participate in a 72-hour series of gaming where prizes (like a signed GHIII faceplate signed by Slash) are awarded each hour. You’ll be able to battle it out online with the developers, and make your way up an exclusive Xbox Live Leaderboard to become the true he
ro of the plastic guitar. To start off the weekend you can try and get the “Meet Your Maker” achievement by finding, and beating, one of the developers at their own game. From 6:00pm to 9:00pm EST on November 2nd, members of Neversoft will be roaming the depths of hell awaiting the most righteous of challengers. Below is the list of gamertags you’ll need to keep an eye out for in order to get the secret achievement. More details and the official rules will be available here starting tomorrow. Registration begins when the site goes live, and continues until November 4th.
