Microsoft might have another Halo project in the works. The company allegedly registered multiple website domains this week that indicate a project called Halo Infinity.

Fusible reports that,, and many others were registered this week. The registrations were filed through MarkMonitor, the company that handles domain management for Microsoft. It seems plausible, then, that Microsoft's the one snatching up these domains.

So, what is Halo Infinity? Fusible notes that "Infinity" was the name of a multiplayer map for the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved. They reason that the map could be released as DLC for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the recent HD remake of the game released on Xbox 360.

Would Microsoft create a new website just for a multiplayer map, though? It seems like a lot of effort for a small piece of DLC.

"Infinity" is also the name of a ship in Halo lore. The UNSC Infinity, introduced in the post-Halo 3 novel Halo: Glasslands, is a top-secret vessel built with Covenant or Forerunner technology. It seems important enough to get its own game - or maybe a novel.

It seems unlikely that Infinity would be another Xbox 360 shooter. 343 Industries is still finishing up Halo 4, after all.
