We still don’t have any solid details on Nintendo’s next home console, but it looks like we might have an idea as to at least one game that could be launching with the console. Anyone up for a trip to Hyrule?

Rumors have been circulating for over a year now that the delay of the Wii U Zelda game had more to do with the impending launch of Nintendo’s next console than anything else. The game was originally expected to drop a while back but, last year, Nintendo announced that it wasn’t quite ready for the main stage.

That got rumors swirling about that, like Twilight Princess at the dawn of the original Wii platform, Nintendo was taking time to prepare for a launch on the NX alongside the Wii U. According to this latest bit of gossip over on NeoGAF, it sound more likely that this is the case.

Keep in mind that nothing here is confirmed so, until we get word from the Big N, everything that follows should be taken with an appropriately sized grain of salt.

According to Trevelyan9999 a “verified source from Nintendo” has provided proof that the publisher is planning to bring out the new Legend of Zelda game for the Nintendo NX during holiday 2016.

Outside of that potential news, the post claims that Nintendo has outlined a few big points in its marketing plan for the remainder of the year.

For the Spring-Early Summer lineup, we see confirmed titles like Hyrule Warriors Legends and Bravely Second alongside the suspiciously quiet since E3 Metroid Prime: Federation Force and the mysteriously-titled “Code Name: Caviar F,” which is supposedly a budget title for all ages.

Into the summer, we’re looking at games like Dragon Quest VII and another couple of mystery titled, Code Name Torte City (a big budget core game) and Code name Cadillac (small budget, late summer).

Finally, heading into Fall-Holiday, we see a potential price cut for the 3DS, Dragon Quest VIII, a Pokemon 20th Anniversary game of some sort, and a couple more games bearing code names.

Again, we feel it needs reiterating that nothing here is confirmed, so maybe don’t start marking your calendars just yet. However, it should be noted that the timeline for known games seems to match up with Nintendo’s plans and, again, it makes a heck of a lot of sense that the new Zelda game would be a launch title for the Nintendo NX.

Here’s some good news: E3 is only a few months away at this point, and that’s probably the most likely place for Nintendo to make some big announcements, especially if the NX and Zelda are arriving this coming holiday season.

Feel free to speculate like mad in the comments section below.
