Nintendo has released Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins on the 3DS. This handheld adventure serves as a prequel to the Wii U exclusive Lego City Undercover that launched last month.

In Chase Begins, players take on the role of undercover cop Chase McCain. Chase can explore an open-world Lego city in land and air vehicles. By using disguises, he can access new abilities that help him catch the various criminals plaguing the city. The 3DS' StreetPass feature allows players to share collectibles.

The 3DS prequel is set two years before the Wii U game. Chase is a rookie cop with mundane duties, such as finding lost pets. However, he gets a chance to prove himself when gangs of criminals begin to cause havoc.

Chase Begins can be found in stores throughout North America. The European and Australian launches are expected on April 26th and 27th, respectively.
