The boys of summer are arriving to the party a little early this year as Sony pulls back the curtain on the first trailer for MLB 13 The Show, reminding everyone that baseball season is just around the corner.

Debuting this afternoon on the PlayStation Blog, this first trailer for The Show sticks to the basics, displaying lots of HD baseballing action without mention of any new modes, features or anything like that. Basically, it’s all about the crack of the bat, intended to get you salivating nice and early for the start of the season in just a couple of months.

While the crew over at SCEA San Diego puts the finishing touches on this latest offering, you fans can get in on the action, too, by helping select which player will grace the game’s cover when it hits store shelves. You can head over to to cast your vote. Candidates include the Dodgers’ Matt Kemp, the Brewers’ Ryan Barun, the Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen, the Nationals’ Bryce Harper, the Yankees’ CC Sabathia and the Giants’ Buster Posey. Voting officially begins on Jan. 7, so take some time to go over that list, look way down deep in your heart, and decide *cough*Posey*cough* who you feel deserves to be the face of MLB 13 The Show.
