Michael Vick will not be returning to the cover of Madden. In the last round of voting for the Madden NFL 12 cover, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback (and Madden 2004 cover man) was edged out by Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis.

Hillis was traded to the Browns in 2010 after two quiet seasons with the Denver Broncos. Last season turned out to be a breakout year for him, as he racked up 1,177 rushing yards and 477 receiving yards. He's one of only two players in NFL history to rack up more than 130 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns and 60 receiving yards in a single game.

The cover athlete was chosen by a tournament driven by fan voting. In previous rounds, Hillis beat out Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers. After knocking off two heavyweight quarterbacks, it's not a huge shock he took the top prize.

Lockout or no lockout, Madden NFL 12 will be released on August 30th.
