Continuing their recent strategy of releasing slimmed-down, digital versions of their console games, EA announced Madden NFL Arcade today. Arcade is a 5-on-5 NFL game for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

One player tries to go sixty years down the field and score a touchdown while the other defends. They take turns doing this until one of you scores 30 points, an amount that can be changed in the options menu. Arcade also features 13 different "Game Changers," special abilities that can turn the tide of the game such as freezing the quarterback in place or turning off his receiver icons.

Arcade, priced at 1600 Microsoft Points ($20), will hit PSN and Xbox 360 in December. The first screenshots are below. As is the norm for arcade-like sports game, the characters in this game are slightly misshapen.
