Overachieving PS3 gamers have been hunting Trophies since 2008. The most coveted trophies are the Platinums, rewarded after a player earns all of the lesser Trophies in a game. Today Sony revealed the ten games that players have earned Platinum in.
You would think that the list would be dominated by some crappy kids' game with really easy Trophies. However, that's not the case. They're all popular, well-reviewed games:
1. Assassin’s Creed II
2. Modern Warfare 2
3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
4. God of War 3
5. Resident Evil 5

7. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
8. God of War (GoW HD Collection)
9. Borderlands
10. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (The Sly Collection)
Sony's Jeff Rubenstein points out on the PlayStation.Blog that all but one of these games was released in 2009 or earlier. This means gamers have had plenty of time to work on knocking out all the Trophies. Furthermore, the games on the list have very few multiplayer Trophies, which tend to be a time sink.
To my eternal shame, I've racked up zero Platinum Trophies in spite of owning a PS3 since Trophies went live. In truth, I probably won't earn any. I'm more of a "finish the campaign and move on to the next shiny toy" type. Shooting for Platinums sounds like a smarter financial move, though.
The PS Vita shipped with Trophy support as well. I suspect a few of its games might creep onto the list. I get the vibe that Trophies will be a bit less time-intensive on a handheld.
