SuperBot Entertainment has released a new video highlighting the world mash-ups of upcoming four-player brawler, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. While it might not be the character reveals fans are not-so-patiently hoping for, it does give a nice inside look into the creation of these bizarre fighting levels where Bioshock Infinite can exist alongside Uncharted 3 and the god of the underworld can be overthrown by adorable, spear-chucking Patapons.

According to Director Omar Kendall, the whole idea of mashing up levels came from the just mentioned God of War/Patapon crossover concept.

“We had this idea of a giant Hades wreaking havoc on the playspace, when suddenly this happy-go-lucky music kicks in and the Patapons come over the hill to overthrow him,” Kendall said. “Once that came together, we knew we were onto something.”

As a result, every level in the game is actually a mash-up of two different games, frequently from two entirely different genres. Check out the developer diary below, which shows off more of the levels as well as the creative process behind their designs.

Wait...Was that a glimpse of Crash Bandicoot at 2:34? I kid! I kid! But seriously, the roster is currently 20-strong and, with levels mixing and matching so many different PlayStation titles, All-Stars Battle Royale is shaping up to be a love letter to the past 15 years of gaming on Sony consoles.

There are still a couple of months left between now and Battle Royale's Nov. 20 release month, and Kendall promises more announcements about the game's characters, levels and items leading up to the big day. For additional details on the level mash-ups, check out this post on the PlayStation Blog.
