Oftentimes in video games we see headshots in their full, fleshy glory usually followed by a commentator shouting out the ubiquitous "Headshot!". However, Rebellion's Sniper Elite V2 takes a cue from NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat and uses an X-ray cam to show off headshot kills, as showcased in the newest trailer.

I don't know if a bullet through the skull has quite the same impact as a punch to the face or a kick to the ribs. Those Mortal Kombat videos were pretty awesome, especially the ones with Kenshi and Scorpion, showing off the X-ray moves with delightfully gruesome results.

As you'll see in the trailer for Sniper Elite V2, the X-ray kill-cam is pretty dynamic -- even though it's a cinematic and not actual gameplay -- but if it represents what gamers will experience in the actual game, I guess it's still fairly satisfying.

You can look for Sniper Elite V2 to land on store shelves for the Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as become available at digital e-tailers in the early first-half of 2012. You can pre-order the game right now or pay a visit to the Official Website to learn more about Rebellion's authentic military shooter.
