Undead Labs' State of Decay has slowly been releasing new info and media content here and there. The latest bit of info for the game details the character attributes, customization, leveling and the stats, revealing that there's a lot of characterization in the Xbox 360 zombie-apocalypse game, State of Decay, beyond the basic elements of survival.
The info is spelled out in a rather detailed fashion on the official State of Decay website. Players will have to deal with things like cardio, shooting, fighting, wits and leadership skills. Each one has a varied effect on the character, such as being able to out-run zombies, how much damage they do when fighting, how fast they can scavenge an area or how well they manage others.
In addition to the basic stats, there are additional characteristics that affect each character, including Bruiser, Construction, Counseling, Sexting and Sports Trivia. These are a few of additional characteristics that further individualize each of the idiosyncrasies of the cast of characters you'll be playing and encountering throughout State of Decay, which could really help create a sense of story and character development in the game, similar to TellTale's The Walking Dead.
Players will also be able to choose weapon specification skills for each of the survivors, so that they can get good with hacking weapons, slashing weapons, pistols, shotguns, etc.
The ability to adapt to the play-style of the character and to have players find an affinity with the personalities of these characters could go a long way in making State of Decay a much better and long-lasting game than some of the competitors out there.
For now, there's still no telling if the game will be a stud or a dud, but on paper it's definitely a stud. I can't wait to see more progress footage and I'm sure hoping this game turns out legit, unlike another zombie survival scam whose name I won't mention.
