If you have a Kinect that's collecting dust and you have a 360 that you put to use regularly because you're a core gamer, then this next bit of news is for you. Capcom has announced that their hardcore vertical-mech action game, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, is currently available for the Xbox 360.
The game is designed by legendary heavy-mech developer, FromSoftware. The game isn't another casual-Kinect cash-in job, though. Steel Battalion is a hardcore title that puts players into a futuristic warzone where high-tech, electronic equipment is useless. After dropping a dirty EMP bomb that causes a world blackout of electronic equipment, countries are thrown back into the age of low-fi equipment and gear, this means no high-tech mechs just old-school vertical mechs.
Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor also switches things up, it's not a traditional Kinect title where you're "hands free". The game is about utilizing both the controller for traditional play, as well as the Kinect for non-traditional play. Gamers will have to keep their mech in operating order as well as deal with finicky teammates, exhaustive equipment and relentless enemies. I actually like the idea that the game is using a controller plus Kinect experience, it definitely helps separate this title from all the other standard-fare shooters and mech titles out there.
You can pick up Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor for the Xbox 360 for $59.99. The game is rated 'M' for Mature. Need to learn more? Feel free to visit the Official Website.
