Tip-toeing down the line separating utterly bizarre and insanely intriguing, Zoink!'s upcoming PlayStation 3 and Vita game, Stick it to the Man is a 2D platformer crossed with an adventure game, set in a world of paper, stickers, murderous brain-hands and mind reading.
This is one of those games that's way easier to show than tell, so it's nice that Zoink! decided to provide a debut trailer with their game's official announcement. Stick it to the Man looks more like an edgy, high concept cartoon than a video game, and the mechanics are pretty dang unique.
Zoink's Klaus Lyngeled introduced the game in the above linked PlayStation Blog post, explaining the premise of the game.
“The story is about this poor guy called Ray, who ends up in a coma and wakes up with a 16-foot pink spaghetti arm sticking out of his head,” Lyngeled said. “The arm gives him the power to actually listen to anyone's thoughts, which he hears as an inner monologue. But that's not all—he can also put thoughts into people's heads, change what they think about, and even pull objects out from peoples thoughts.”
As an example, Ray can tear a hotdog out of the environment and place it into the mind of a cop standing in his way. The cop, now hungry for a hotdog, might venture to a nearby hotdog stand.
The game is fully voiced, resulting in more than 10 hours of dialogue, according to Lyngeled, all of which was written by Ryan North, of Adventure Time fame.
Look for Stick it to the Man later this year on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
