Indie studio Discord Games announced today that their independent project, Take Arms, is currently available for purchase on Xbox Live. The game features side-scrolling, hardcore multiplayer deathmatch action similar to Aeria Games’ Metal Assault.

As stated in the press release…
Take Arms delivers fast, challenging gameplay for up to 8 players over Xbox Live or System Link with stunning anime-style HD artwork, all at a smooth 60 FPS. Play as three different classes: the quick and light Striker equipped with a sniper rifle, the slow and heavy Destroyer equipped with a belt-fed machine gun, or the middle-ground Grunt with burst-fire assault rifle.

The game is remarkably smooth looking for as far as I can tell, and fans of Soldat or the previously mentioned Metal Assault will probably really enjoy Take Arms. I actually totally dig games like this and what’s more is that fans of competitive side-scrolling deathmatch titles can pick up Take Arms for the low price of 240 MS Points. The game also includes three different environments, and three different modes including deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag.

You can pick the game up digitally from the Live Marketplace or you can learn more about the game by visiting the Official Discord Games Website.
