2K Sports confirmed today that the Ultimate Warrior will be part of WWE 2K14's roster. Unfortunately, the Warrior will be exclusively available to gamers who pre-order 2K14 at participating stores.
The Ultimate Warrior was a huge star in the WWE back in late 1980's and early 90's. He fought the likes of Hulk Hogan, "Ravishing" Rick Rude and Sergeant Slaughter. After defeating Hogan at WrestleMania VI, he became the first WWE wrestler to hold both the WWE Champion and Intercontinental Championship. Also, he might've been the the first and last person in history to make pink bicep tassels look cool.
"Immortality is inspiration, pure and simple. An example to others that they, too, can do things larger than the life they are actually living, and Ultimate Warrior was the pure embodiment of this belief, in what has proven to be a very attention-getting and inspiring way," said Warrior (yes, that's his legal name). "It was my good fortune to be his creator and performer, and I am humbled by all those fans who've not only kept his legacy alive, but deepened it over time. In WWE 2K14, Ultimate Warrior's creed, 'Always Believe,' lives on."
To commemorate the Ultimate Warrior's inclusion in WWE 2K14, 2K released a video of him visiting their offices. He is, unsurprisingly, still huge. It's weird seeing him with short, salt-and-pepper hair instead of his old caveman haircut, though. You can see some in-game footage of Warrior starting at the 1:20 mark.
"There has never been another WWE Superstar quite like the Ultimate Warrior - his intensity and energy is unmatched, and his legacy is undeniable," said Chris Snyder, Senior Director of Marketing at 2K. "Fans love him, opponents fear him and everyone can agree that he's one of the most iconic Legends in WWE history. Pre-ordering WWE 2K14 is the only way we mere mortals will ever have a glimpse into the greatness that is Ultimate Warrior."
WWE 2K14 will be the first game in the series published by 2K Sports. They acquired the rights to the series from THQ following that company's bankruptcy. Yukes, the developer from previous WWE games, is building the game for PS3 and Xbox 360.
