Blizzard has decided to revamp the Recruit-A-Friend program for World of Warcraft. Now you can earn an all-new Obsidian Nightwing mount by convincing a friend to subscribe to the MMORPG.
The Obsidian Nightwing is an enormous black cat with wings. You don't ride it, though. Instead, you transform into the Nightwing. A friend can then ride you around. It looks cool and it provides you with ample opportunities for innuendo.
You'll earn the Obsidian Nightwing once your friend pays for his second month of WoW game time. When your friend buys the full version of the game and first month, you get 30 days of free game time credited to your account.
Recruit-A-Friend previously awarded players the X-53 Touring Rocket, a two-seater mount. If you earned it previously, you'll get to keep it. However, moving forward you won't be able to acquire the Rocket in-game.
Blizzard makes it easy to play with your newbie friend, too. You and your recruit can each summon each other. You'll earn triple experience points while grouped together up until level 80. The recruit character also accumulates bonus levels that they can give to their friend's characters.
It's a bit depressing how the mounts sold for cash or earned through Recruit-A-Friend end up being the coolest mounts in the game. However, it does make this program very enticing. You can bet there are going to be a few people "recruiting" their second WoW account just to get ahold of this Nightwing.
