November will bring a new set of free Xbox 360 and Xbox One games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. However, the giveaway will be a little more generous this time around.

First, here's the list of free games for November:
  • Pneuma: Breath of Life ($19.99 ERP): Available from November 1-30 on Xbox One
  • Knight Squad ($14.99 ERP): Available from November 16-December 15 on Xbox One
  • DiRT 3 ($24.99 ERP): Available from November 1-15, 2015 on Xbox 360.
  • Dungeon Siege III ($19.99 ERP): Available from November 16-30 on Xbox 360
The November 12th launch of backwards compatibility on Xbox One is changing how Games with Gold works, though. Starting in November, the free Xbox 360 games released through this program will also be playable on Xbox One. This means XB1 owners can take advantage of the Xbox 360 freebies even if they've ditched their older console.

Pneuma is a first-person puzzle game released this past spring. Players become Pneuma, a god traversing a fantastical world. In an interesting twist, puzzles are solved by looking at the environments. For example, you lift a bridge by pointing the camera at it rather than by flipping a switch. The developers say their game will make you "think outside the box and explore beyond what they know as reality."

Knight Squad is a much more conventional game. Up to eight players become knights and battle in top-down arenas. These skirmishes play out in several different modes. You can play the traditional deathmatch or participate in a very violent game of soccer.

As usual, the free Xbox 360 games are more recognizable. DiRT 3 is an off-road racing games with courses across three continents. In the game's main mode, players participate in a range of events to unlock new vehicles. The game also features a gymkhana mode in which players must navigate an obstacle course and perform various tricks.

Dungeon Siege 3 is an action RPG set in the fantasy world of Ehb. Players choose one of four characters for their journey to defeat Jeyne Kassynder. Each character has different abilities and different equipment at their disposal in this voyage. You'll be joined on your quest by three NPC companions or up to three players.

Xbox One's backwards compatibility allows players to carry over any progress from Xbox 360. Gamers on Xbox One and Xbox 360 can play together online in compatible games. The Xbox One won't upgrade the visuals of these 360 games but will allow you access to new features such as video recording and screenshot capture. You can also stream games to your Windows 10 PC - which might be the closest you'll ever get to playing Xbox 360 games on PC.
