Subscribe To You Can Now Pre-Order The Standalone PlayStation VR, Here's What It Includes Updates
With the release of the Oculus Rift this week and HTC Vive’s release next week, PlayStation VR is the last of the trio to make its debut later this year. And with a release date in October, Sony has finally opened pre-orders for the standalone version of the VR headset.

Sony has already announced a $500 launch bundle for the PlayStation VR, which includes the VR device, the camera, two Move controllers and a PlayStation Worlds game collection (The London Heist, Into the Deep, The Luge, Danger Ball, and Scavenger's Odyssey).

But now, pre-orders are open for the brand new standalone bundle, and it’s probably your best option if you’ve already got things like the PlayStation camera and the Move controllers. The standalone bundle will of course come with the VR headset, the processor unit, headphones and the cables needed to set it up. You will be able to purchase the bundle from Target, GameStop, Best Buy and Walmart for $400. The launch bundle will be $100 more at $500 total.

With the steep prices of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, PlayStation VR is giving them a run for their money because of the extreme difference in prices, but were we expecting anything different from Sony? If there’s one company that knows how to market a product and compete with the stiff competition, it’s Sony. It seems since the release of the Xbox One and PS4, Sony has gotten it right all along while Xbox has been changing plans last minute to keep up. So, as has been the pattern, Sony rumps the competition. But maybe this means the others aren’t too far away from a price decrease.

If you would like to pre-order the standalone PlayStation VR, you can do so on the PlayStation Page, where there is a list of the retailers carrying the device. Otherwise, you can wait to get your hands on the headset when it releases for $299.
