Last month, we learned that Disney was set to bring Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Monsters Inc, and Beauty and the Beast back to the big screen with 3D releases. Beauty and the Beast will return to theaters, this time in 3D, this January and the poster for the film is now online.
Set for a January 13th limited theatrical engagement, Beauty and the Beast will have Belle and the Beast’s tale as old as time converted to 3D. The poster below, originally posted by Yahoo, features Belle in her classic yellow dress, the Beast gussied up for his date and dance with her, and some of the charmed objects standing by, looking hopeful that love will blossom and the curse will soon be broken.
As colorful as the above poster is, I’m more of a fan of the old one-sheet for the film. The simple silhouette of Belle and the Beast sold the love-story simply and beautifully.
Then again, as well as the above one-sheet manages to capture the heart of the story, it doesn’t do much to sell people on the idea of seeing the film in the theater again in 3D, which is why the new poster is probably more fitting for the film’s re-release in theaters.
Beauty and the Beast 3D releases in theaters January 13, 2012.
