Noomi Rapace, the Swedish actress with a scintillating screen presence and cheekbones to die for, first grabbed attention in the U.S. when Niels Arden Oplev's adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo hit, preceding David Fincher's hotly anticipated English-language version. Since then Rapace has been popping up in big and bold American movies, from Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows to Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Having scored leading lady roles in both those blockbusters, you might think Rapace has her pick of projects. That may be true, but she's staying loyal by starring in Dead Man Down, the first English-language feature from her Girl With the Dragon Tattoo director.

From the look of its first trailer, Dead Man Down seems a pretty straightforward crime thriller. In it, Rapace plays Beatrice, a battered woman who blackmails a man she saw commit murder (Colin Farrell) in order to exact fatal revenge on the man who beat her. Beyond the blackmail, things get trickier for Farrell's anti-hero when he discovers this belligerent brute is none other than his boss (Terrence Howard), a notorious New York City crime lord. Below you can check out a glimpse of all three in Dead Man Down's latest poster, thanks to MTV:

Parsing the details of this poster, there are a few curious details. For one, Terrence Howard doesn't get top billing, but his mug does get about twice as much space on the poster than his arguably more bankable co-stars. Another oddity is that Dominic Cooper's name is trumpeted in the central text, yet there's no identifiable close-up of the actor who most recently appeared in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Could this mean he's the unfortunate man who appears to be falling to his death in the center panel? We'll find out when Dead Man Down drops on March 8th.
