As things stand, it looks like Zack Snyder's Man of Steel will be the only Superman movie other than Superman III not to have Lex Luthor featured as a character. While practically every other major role has been filled, from our hero to Perry White, no actor in the cast is locked in to play Supes' number one baddie. Now, however, a dubious rumor has popped up suggesting that not only will Luthor be in the movie, but that Snyder has landed an A-list talent to play him.

Cosmic Book News has apparently heard from a source that thanks to the production halt on Paradise Lost, Bradley Cooper will be making an appearance in Man of Steel as the villainous bald one. Should the story be true, Cooper would be the third - and by far the youngest - actor to play the character on the big screen, with both Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey previously taking up the role. This isn't the first time that Cooper has been linked with a part in a comic book movie, having been suggested to play both Green Lantern and The Flash (though the latter is still a possibility). A retelling of the origin story, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Supes, who goes up against the great Kryptonian enemy known as General Zod, played by Michael Shannon. Also in the film is Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Christopher Meloni.

Whether you like this idea or not, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. The rumor comes from a fairly unknown source, which puts its legitimacy into question. I'm not completely discounting the idea that Lex Luthor could be in Man of Steel, but don't start going around telling your friends that Bradley Cooper is set to play him. You might look like an idiot in the long run.
