Despicable Me 2 was already considered a pretty sure moneymaker before it hit the market. The follow up to Despicable Me managed to crush in the U.S. and later around the world—a feat, considering the film never even made it to China--grossing over 872 million worldwide. Now, Universal Studios Home Entertainment is prepping to release the film so that audiences can view it from the comfort of their homes. If you want to catch the movie sooner, Despicable Me 2 will be released digitally on November 26. Other platforms, including Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet will be available for purchase on December 10.

The success of the Despicable Me movies has largely hinged on the minions in the film, and Universal Studios has always been pretty savvy to this. In fact, before the second film was released, I even saw a minion blimp floating around near the Beverly Hills area. So, it’s not a huge surprise that the marketing for the release would heavily invest in the popularity of the minions, as well. Thus, if you shell out for the Blu-ray, the whole family can enjoy three brand new mini-movies starring the minions. If you’re familiar with the yellow dudes already, you should be prepared for the sort of slapstick humor found in those mini-movies. But if you need a reminder, you can check out a sneak peek at the mini-movie “Panic in the Mailroom right here…

Each of the mini-movies with the set will be introduced by Gru, and if the above preview is any indication, your kids should love all of them. Again, you have to purchase the Blu-ray to get the mini-movies, but the good news is that both the Blu-ray and DVD sets will come with at least a few bonus features, although, the Blu-ray extras seem quite a bit more kid friendly. You can pre-order Despicable Me 2 over at Amazon, or check out the full list of extras, below.
