Suddenly watching Karl Uban outside of anything Star Trek seems wrong. He so perfectly embodied the character of Doctor McCoy that I find myself revolted at the thought of watching him play anyone else. It almost feels disloyal. I wonder if I’ll still be able to enjoy Lord of the Rings or for that matter the upcoming comic book adaptation Priest in which THR says he’s been cast as the villain.
Priest is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the world has been blasted by a war between men and vampires. Paul Bettany is already set to play a warrior priest (What is it with him and playing violent religious figures?) who teams up with a Sheriff and a warrior priestess to save his niece from garlic-haters. In particular he’ll be saving her from Karl Urban, as Black Hat, the nasty vampire leader.
I can't help it. This just feels wrong. He’s a doctor, not a post-apocalyptic vampire! Someone had to say it.
